Nivelles
Nivelles is a town of 30.000 inhabitants in the French-speaking part of Belgium. Its strategic geographical position between Brussels and Charleroi influenced its history.
The first monastery was built in the 7th century and was then under the authority of the Spanish, the Austrians, and the French throughout the years. Unfortunately, only one tower remains from the Roman fortification.
The main church “collégiale Sainte-Gertrude” celebrated its 975th anniversary in 2022 and proudly sits on the main square.
The region around Nivelles is very green and dedicated to agriculture. However, the suburbs of the city are dedicated to industries. The industrial area in the north was a former F1 racing track that hosted 2 Grand Prix in 1972 and 1974.
The culinary specialty of Nivelles is called Tarte al-djote. It’s a kind of cheese & butter pie. Delicious. Sparingly.

CAP Innove
CAP Innove was created in 1983 by the Free University of Brussels (ULB). They were looking for a place to help university startups grow. A piece of land 30km south of Brussels was available to host the first incubator in Wallonia.
In 2019, CAP Innove developed 3 sectorial “niches”: ID2Move dedicated to autonomous systems, ID2Food for agrofood and agritechnologies and ID2Green to help companies with their sustainable development goals.
Nowadays, CAP Innove hosts 70+ companies in 3 buildings. Shared kitchen, test zones for drones and a restaurant are also part of the 10.000m².
